Harman Greathouse. Father of the Sons mentioned below died of old age at the fort of hewed logs now standing near which Thomas Edgington (the father of Jesse E.) was taken prisoner by Simon Girty and Indians, released or exchanged nine or ten months after having suffered much, was landed at N. York nearly destitute of clothing without money, traveld on foot to his home this place in the coldest of winter.

(Harmons Creek was named after Harmon being the first settler)

Jonathan Greathouse son. Emigrated to Kentucky, was on the way in a boat having his sister-in-law with him, was kild by the Indians near Limestone near Maysville.

Daniel G. Died in this neighborhood.

Wm Greathouse within one or two miles of this.

Second. John Sappington was at his fathers house the time you ment., Emigrated to Kentucky.

Third. As to the Walker family cannot recollect at this time.

Fourth. The Castleman family only so far. The Father was killed, the family taken prisoner by the Indians; afterwards most of them returned. Does not at this time recollect what has become of them in after life.

In hopes the above answer to Your inquiries will be satisfactory, although imperfect, will be satisfactory Mr. E. being the last of the families the first emigrants to the most, the hardships of the present race have not endured not even the present War does not compare tot he personal suffering of the first settlers.
