1792, Nov 13 - Land: Henry Drinker to William Grothouse

This Indenture made the the Thirteenth day of the Eleventh Month in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety two. Between Henry Drinker of the City of Philadelphia Merchant and Elisabeth his wife of the one part and William Grothouse of the Township of Greenwood in the County of Mifflin & State of Pennsylvania Yeoman of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Henry Drinker and Elisabeth his wife in consideration of the sum Two hundred pounds and then shillings lawful money of Pennsylvania to them in hand paid at or before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt where of is her by acknowledged; have and by these presents do Grant bargain & sell alien enseoss release and confirm unto the said William Grothouse his heirs and assigns a Certain tract of land Called Deer Lick Land situate on the heads of Mahantang Creek formerly Cumberland County, no Greenwood township Mifflin County. Beginning at a Corner post, thence by vacant land Norther three degrees, west one hundred and Sixty nine perches to a white oak marked for a Corner, thence South three degrees East one hundred and Sixty nine perches to a Corner white oak thence north Eighty Seven degrees East two hundred and one perches to the first mentioned post, and place of the Beginning, Containing two hundred Acres and fifty perches and allowance of six percent for Roads & c. A being the same tract of Land which was surveyed by virtue of an order on application No. 2310 entered the fifth day of January 1767 by Joseph Trotter, who by deed dated the twelfth day of February following Conveyed the same to Samuel Wallis on fee and a Patent was granted to to said Samuel Wallis for the said tract dated the twenty fourth day of May 1782 recorded with Rolls office at Philadelphia in Patent Book No. 1 Page 293 and the said Samuel Wallis Lydia his wife by their deed dated the fourth day of September 1782 granted the same to Abel James and the said Henry in fee and the said Abel James and Rebecca his wife by deed dated the Eighth day the fourth Month 1784 recorded at Philadelphia on Deed Book No. 32 Page 163 & c. did grant and convey inter alia all there share or equal undivided half part of the said tract of land and appurtenances unto the said Henry Drinker for fee.
