1751, Jun 19 - Land: Thomas Lucas to Jacob Holland, Witness: Harmon Greathouse

This Indenture made this 19.th Day of June Anno Domini One Thousand Seven Hundred and fifty one Between Thomas Lucas of Frederick County in the Province of Maryland Bricklayer of the one part and Jacob Holland of Prince Georges County and Province afs.d Farmer of the other part Witnesseth that the said Thomas Lucas for and in Consideration of the Sum of Eight Thousand five hundred Pounds of good Sound Merchantable leaf Tobacco [illegible] to him in hand paid by the said Jacob Holland the Receipt whereof the said Thomas Lucas doth hereby Acknowledge and himself to be therewith fully satisfyed Contented and paid and thereof and therefrom doth Acquit & Discharge the said Jacob Holland his Heirs and Assigns forever Hath Given Granted Bargained and Sold and by these Presents Doth Give Grant Bargain and Sell unto the said Jacob Holland his Heirs & Assigns a certain Parcel or Tract of Land called the "Locust Thickett" lying in Prince Georges County in the Province of Maryland

Beginning at a Bounded Spanish Oak standing on the West side of Patuxent River near the Line of a Tract of Land called "Batsons Vineyard" and near a great Marsh running thence South West One hundred and fifty Perches

thence North Twenty eight Degrees West fifty seven Perches

thence West One hundred and thirty five Perches

thence North One hundred and twenty six Perches

thence North Fifty four Degrees East One hundred and eight Perches

thence with a Streight line to the first Bounded Tree

Containing and laid out for Two hundred and twenty five Acres of Land more or less Together with all Woods Underwoods Timber and Timber Trees Houses Orchards Gardens Fences and Appurtenances whatsoever to the said Land belonging or in any wide appertaining To have and to hold the said Two hundred and twenty five Acres of Land called Locust Thickett as aforesaid with all and singular the Appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said Jacob Holland his Heirs and Assigns for ever and the said Thomas Lucas for himself his Heirs Executors and Administrators doth Covenant and Agree to and with the said Jacob Holland his Heirs and Assigns that the said Thomas Lucas his Heirs Executors and Adm.rs the said Granted Land called Locust Thickett Containing two hundred and twenty five Acres as aforesaid unto the said Jacob Holland his Heirs and Assigns shall and will forever Warrant and Defend by these Presents and ^also^ shall and will at the request and at Cost and Charges in the Law of the said Jacob Holland his Heirs or Assigns do make Acknowledge Suffer and Execute any Deed or Instrument as the said Jacob Holland his Heirs or Assigns or his or their Council learned in the Law shall reasonably Advise Devise or Require for the further and better Assurance Surety or sure making of the said Lands and Premisses to him the said Jacob Holland his Heirs and Assigns for ever more and that he the said Jacob Holland his Heirs & Assigns shall and may forever at all times hereafter Peaceably and Quietly hold have Use Occupy Possess and Enjoy the said Land and Premisses without the Lett Suit Trouble or Disturbance of him the said Thomas Lucas his Heirs and Assigns or of any Person or Persons whatsoever In Witness whereof the said Thomas Lucas hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and Year above Written.

Received of the within Named Jacob Holland Eight Thousand five hundred Pounds of Tobacco being the Considerations within mentioned Pmt June 19.th 1751

Memorandum that on the 19.th Day of June Anno Domini One Thousand seven hundred and fifty one the within Named Thomas Lucas came before me whose Names are hereunto Subscribed and Acknowledged the within Indenture to be his Act and Deed and that the Land and Premisses therein mentioned to be the Right of the within Named Jacob Holland his Heirs and Assigns forever according to the True Intent & meaning of the within Indenture the same Day came Ann the Wife of the said Thomas Lucas and being by Us Examined according to Act of Assembly did own that she gave her Voluntary Consent to the Sale of the said Lands without the Fear Threats or Compulsion of her said Husband. In Witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my Name the Day and Year above Written
